Two wins by Knockout for Kickboxing Team in Aruba

St. Maarten Kickboxer coachs Marco London (l) and Omar Marsham (r) celebrates with their fighters Jaheim Doram and Trinity Romney.

ARUBA—St. Maarten Kickboxer Trinity Romney Redeemed himself in the Xtrme Muay Thai tournament in Aruba that took place on February 25. He defeated Jhan Sevastian by Knock out in the third round.

While Trinity suffered a loss in his debut fight in Aruba in 2019, he clearly made a statement that he has matured and grown in strength and technique in 2022. The now 18 year old St. Maartener started the fight at a high pace and with a lot of movement managed to strike his opponent a lot. This led to his opponent taking two standing eight-counts in the first round. In the second round Trinity continued his fury of punches and kick and Sevastian had to take another standing eight-count after Trinity landed a kick to head followed by a combination of punches.
Clearly well ahead on points Trinity started his third round calmly and picked his moves carefully. He set Sevastian up with a left straight and then followed with a right spinning back-fist. This landed flush and Sevastian immediately went down and was counted out by the referee.
Trinity won the fight by KO and now has a record of 2 fights with 1 win and 1 loss.
The second fighter representing Sint Maarten was Jaheim Doram. This 19 year old Sint Maarten entered the ring for the first time. He weighed in at 105 kg while his opponent Saul Hodge from Aruba was 10 cm taller and weighed in at 115kg. The weight advantage turned out not to help Saul.
When the bell rang Jaheim clearly was much faster and more agile than his heavier opponent. Jaheim landed the majority of his kicks and punches. Early in the round a punch followed by a leg kick sent Saul to the ground and he had to take an eight count. From here Jaheim put on the pressure and had the upper hand in the fight.
The second round Jaheim started again with strong combinations of Punches and kicks. Saul tried to escape in the clinch but Jaheim managed to neutralize him and the referee quickly broke it up. Half way the second round Saul clearly tired and Jaheim saw an opportunity and landed a left hook followed by a right straight punch to the face. Saul Hodge went down and the referee counted him out.
This was Jaheim first fight and now stand 1 fight with 1 Win.
Coaches Omar Marsham and Marco London who guided the team were extremely pleased with the results of these fighters and thank all people that have assisted with training and preparing the team for this tournament. Special thanks goes out to Pine apple Petes restaurant who provide tickets for the team to travel to Aruba. The kickboxing team trains 3 times a week at Milton Peters College gymnasium.
