Gene Kemble, General Secretary of the St. Maarten Football Federation (SXMFF) (left) welcomes Head Coach Randall McClure of Shaw University to Raoul Illidge Sports Complex. SXMFF will host their first Football Showcase for potential college athletes this weekend. Action begins Friday at 7:00pm with the U20 Men’s National team having an inner-squad match. Saturday the U20 SXM Women’s National Team takes on St. Barths Women’s Team at 5:00pm and at 7:30pm the U20 Men’s National Team (1) faces Hottspurs U20. Sunday the U20 Men’s National Team (2) plays Hottspurs U20 starting at 5:00pm.
Coach McClure who is the head men’s and women’s coach at Shaw University arrived on St. Maarten Wednesday to scout the local footballing talent. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, other coaches are not able to attend the showcase this year, so SXMFF will record all matches and send the footage along with the player profiles up to the coaches in the United States. The general public is invited to come out and enjoy the games.
