NASSAU-- Three St. Maarten runners competed in the Bahamas Half Marathon on Sunday.
Steve Duzanson finished second overall in a time of 1 hour 25 minutes 50 seconds and was the overall winner in the Masters category. Saro Spadaro completed the course in 1 hour 44 minutes 33 seconds which secured him a third place in the Masters 45-49 age category and Jonathan Schaede sprinted to the finish line in 1 hour 46 minutes and 10 seconds to secure second in the men’s 30-34 age group.
The run draws athletes from all over the world (35 nationalities in 2020) who compete in the full marathon, half marathon, relay or 5km race.s
This year, the 11th edition, attracted over 500 runners.
The organizers design the race courses to showcase many of the focal points of the destination including quaint and scenic downtown Nassau with it’s historic buildings, the glitz and glamour of Paradise Island, the business districts, a small portion of exciting Cable Beach and the life of the residents hugging the northern shore of the Island.
The race course was mostly flat with the exception of the two major bridges spanning the bay to Paradise Island.
