FLORIDA—A St. Maarten Junior Varsity and a Varsity basketball teams are in Florida to play a series of games. Organized by the Performance Sports Athletic Association, the trip for 21 student athletes along with coach Omar Beauperthuy and support group left for Florida Thursday.
The week long trip, will allow the players to competing against several preparatory schools across the state. The goal of PSA is to provide opportunities, creating exposure and gaining experience for student athletes on St. Maarten. In addition to playing games, the players will also be taking on a college tour to see what a basketball student athlete is and how they play at a higher level.
The hope is to inspire the young athelets to work towards that next level. The trip was made possible by support from and Ministry of TEATT, Department of Sports, RBC, SZV, PJIAENV, SHTA, NAPA, St. Martin Cars, the Estate of NCW, Motor World and private sponsors along with everyone else who contributed via the food sales.
