MIDDLE REGION--The King Yen Tae kwon do School is going to be on television. The St. Maarten based group under the leadership of Grandmaster Theo Liu will be competing in the USA International Martial Arts Festival from October 8 to 11 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando Florida.

The tournament will be featured on ESPN. St. Maarten will field a team of about 20 athletes. More than 700 martial artists are expected to compete this year.
“Our excellent international tournament accomplishments in the past years have earned the ‘KING YEN’ Taekwondo-school in St. Maarten an invitation to compete in the important International tournament,” said Liu.
The St. Maarten squad will compete in sparring, form display or Poomsee’s and break tests.
“The St. Maarten Song will be played and our flag will fly as usual in the stadium next to those of the big countries,” said Liu.
The team’s ultimate goal is to train and compete in South Korea, the home of Tae kwon do.
Taekwondo is a sport that teaches not only the movements of martial arts, but most foremost it educates the children in discipline, integrity, kindness, and respect to themselves and others, explained the Grandmaster who has been teaching the art of kicking and punching for four decades.
The athletes selected range in the ages from seven to 18 years. They will make memories for a lifetime.
