BVI—St. Maarten Team Island Water World led by skipper Frits Bus placed second in the British Virgin Islands Spring Regatta. First place went to Spike a J 111, “Spike run by a pro team out of UK is known for its light air performance,” explained Bus. “Conditions where very light,” continued Bus. But the St, Marten Melgas stayed close to spike. “It was a close battle,” said Bus. “Every race at the start line until finish.” The week before Team IWW placed second in class at the St. Thomas International Regatta. Others representing St. Marten in the BVI regatta included family Jonker on “Seaduction” sailing in Cruising Multihull to second place and on the winning big racing Multihull “ Nemo” , well known SXM sailors Joylon Ferron, Ryan Hope Ross and Netty where part of the winning crew in Multihull 1. Also from St. Maarten was Andrea Scarabelly on 2 To Tango, in the multihull racing class.
