The Golden Rock Fishing  tourney reinstated in Statia

ST. EUSTATIUS --  The Golden Rock Fishing tournament will be taking place on the island on November 16, Statia Day. The tournament is being organized by the Department of Culture, LVV Fisheries and Boardwalk Cafe. The deadline to register for the tournament is Friday November 15.

There will also be a Captain's briefing at the Boardwalk at 5:00pm on Friday. Statia's 2023 winner of the most weight in the Fishing Tournament Kenyon Courtar will also be participating in the tournament. Courtar’s team Pa Kouri Statia Team won third place in the St. Barth’s fishing tournament.

The Statia government also announced that Fort Oranjestraat will also be closed nightly from the intersection of Super Burger from 7:00pm until 12:00am starting on Tuesday, November 12 to Saturday, November 16.,

 This is being done for the Statia Day week of activities events that will be taking place during that period. The government is advising persons to plan for this closure and utilize the alternate routes during this time period. Statia Day week of activities will continue on Wednesday, November 13 with a Culture Night where Edwin Yearwood out of Barbados will headline the event. Other acts will feature Steel Pan Orchestra, Aloei Dancers, Encore Band, Ali One Poetry, Brotherhood Drummers and other performers.
