GUADELOUPE --Alisson De Monteclain and Berit Bus are preparing to represent the Friendly Island in the challenging 6-day FEMINA Adventure Race in Guadeloupe.
The race takes place from November 14 to 20, and attracts competitors from around the world.
“Who better than a French and Dutch competitive female duo to represent St. Maarten and St. Martin? It will be difficult, but we hope to finish the race with new knowledge about our physical limits and be proud of ourselves!” share the two competitors.
Multiple activities await Alisson and Berit, with varied events between sea, beach, and jungle. Each day, the teams of two will compete in varied events, which include running, trail-running, kayaking, sailing, abseiling, and other surprise challenges. The longest event will be a trail in the forest of +- 20 kilometres with an elevation gain of at least 500 meters. This race is unique, with only women, hence the word FEMINA.
Usually, training courses and races are male-dominated environments with mostly male competitors, with statistics showing that only 36% are female competitors. FEMINA promises to be in support of an active life full of adventures, female competitors, teamwork, solidarity, and ecology (aiming to be a 100% eco-responsible race). Alisson and Berit are sharing their preparations and competition on social media: @sxmadventuregirls to “highlight our performance, our island, as well as our partners and sponsors.
We want to inspire young women from our island to participate in regional and international sporting events and push their physical limits.” Several sponsors assisting the team are: SuperU & GreenMedsSXM, Trisport, GoSport, Pyratz. If any other companies are interested in helping the duo reach their financial goal to participate in this adventure and represent Sint Maarten / Saint Martin they can contact Alisson and Berit via email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
