PHILIPSBURG--Four Members of Parliament (MPs), one from each faction in parliament, will be travelling to sister island Saba for the Saba Day celebrations, which will be observed on Friday, December 7.
MPs decided during a meeting of the Central Committee of Parliament to maintain the customary number of MPs that travel to such functions.
All parties in parliament indicated which MP would represent their faction with the exception of United Democrats, which was asked to present this information as soon as possible.
Traveling to the celebrations will be United St. Maarten (US) party MP Rolando Brison; St. Maarten Christian Party (SMCP) MP Claude Peterson and National Alliance (NA) MP Christophe Emmanuel, who was recommended by an MP from his faction to attend.
Chairperson of Parliament MP Sarah Wescot-Williams said that for an invitation such as the one received for Saba Day, it is customary for a maximum of four MPs to attend on behalf of parliament.
