POND ISLAND--The Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications Inspectorate advises all businesses to display their business and other licences prominently on their premises as required by law.
Businesses selling food and beverages by law are required by law to visibly display the operational permit or a certified copy of the permit at a height of two metres above the floor.
The Inspectorate also inspects businesses to ensure they have their business/director’s licence as well as a valid Chamber of Commerce and Industry registration visibly displayed. Failure to have documents visibly displayed will result in the issuance of fines by inspectors.
The Inspectorate calls on businesses that have changed address after Hurricanes Irma and Maria to inform the Department of Economic Licences, other government-related bodies, including the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Social and Health Insurances SZV and the Tax Department of the change.
Since the September 2017 hurricanes, the Inspectorate has had some challenges in locating some businesses and/or businessowners. The Inspectorate thus appeals to businessowners who have relocated to update their business information.
The Inspectorate advises businessowners to safeguard their documents (business licence, operational/director’s licence, Chamber of Commerce and Industry extract) by placing them in a watertight container prior to a hurricane strike.
