Members of the Council of Ministers with representatives of SZV.
PHILIPSBURG--The Council of Ministers (COM) on Friday received a general and financial update from Social and Health Insurances SZV.
The SZV delegation included Director Glen Carty and unit managers responsible for the finance, operations, customer care and communications.
Prior to the meeting with the Council of Ministers, a lengthy discussion was held with Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA Pamela Gordon-Carty and SZV, in particular to discuss the financial situation of SZV.
“SZV is implementing internal changes and taking the initiative to improve on certain weaknesses, which can have long-term benefits,” Gordon-Carty said in a press release.
“While there are other areas that need improvement, SZV is already taking the step to at least work towards proving better service for Country Sint Maarten in many different aspects. There are still other aspects to look into, but these will be dealt with as we go along considering that this is the initial phase,” she added.
The Council of Ministers was informed of the general and financial challenges faced by the SZV, along with the current and proposed solutions to these challenges.
Included in the presentation were various improvements to the digital software to improve efficiency and customer service. The Council of Ministers acknowledged and committed to tackling the challenges during this interim period where possible.
Further joint in-depth discussions will continue with Minister of Finance Ardwell Irion and Gordon-Carty on matters related to these two ministries.
