Day without meat

Seven-year-old Aarushi Goklani was out doing her first bit of volunteer work promoting World Meatless Day and the locally-organised walkathon Sunday, November 25, to mark the occasion.

She and fellow volunteer Nikhil Budhrani (16) were spotted outside Fairway Mark It on Thursday afternoon selling T-shirts for the walkathon, giving information about the event and going meatless for just one day – November 25. They were accompanied by Aarushi’s mother Prerna Goklani. The walkathon starts at 5:30am with registration at Belair Community Centre and ends with a vegan breakfast on the centre’s patio. The walkathon route is from the Centre, Link 1, Sea Palace Hotel, Boardwalk Boulevard, Emmaplein, W.J.A. Nisbeth Road, Bush Road and Welgelegen Road back to the Centre. Participants must have their own refillable water bottles for the walk. A yoga session will be held at the centre from 6:30 to 7:45am. Registration donation is US $10. (Rajesh Chintaman photo)
