It was an evening of glitz, glamour and energetic performances by children on Saturday when the Indian Merchants Association (IMA) held its annual Diwali Ball.
Themed “Desi Phatakas,” the evening at Princess Port de Plaisance was geared to giving the children of the Sindhi community an outlet for their talent and to sharing the Indian culture expression with the St. Maarten community in which they were born and are a part. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated every autumn. It is considered the Hindu new year and symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness. (Rajesh Chintaman photos)
