Fischer sentenced for failing to stop at Gendarmerie check-point

MARIGOT--Former Director-General of Semsamar Jean-Paul Fischer, now retired, was handed a one-month suspended prison sentence, a two-month suspension of his driving license, and a 500-euro fine by the court on Thursday for failing to obey a command from a law enforcement official during an incident on September 21, 2017.

The Gendarme in question was hurt while attempting to stop Fischer’s vehicle. Fischer was eventually apprehended and taken into custody.
The case was heard on March 1. The victim brought a civil suit against Fischer claiming 5,000 euros in damages, describing the latter’s action as violent and which could have “caused death or infirmity.”
The Prosecutor requested a two-month suspended prison sentence, suspension of driving license for three months, and a fine of 1,500 euros for Fischer.
Fischer was also ordered to pay 1,000 euros in damages to the victim and 750 euros for his legal cost.
