Four parties are deleted from Electoral Register

PHILIPSBURG--The references of four political parties that registered to participate in the September 2016 Parliamentary Elections have been deleted from the register of references kept by the Electoral Council.

Deleted are “Beyond SXM” the reference of Beyond St. Maarten Development, MAP of Millennial Advancement Party, CPA of Concordia Patriotic Alliance and SRP of Social Reform Party.

None of the four parties submitted a list of candidates for the September 2016 poll and their references were deleted based on the stipulations in the National Ordinance on the Registration and Financing of Political Parties.

Beyond SXM of Loekie Morales and SRP of Jacinto Mock had joined with Helping Our People Excel (HOPE) of Mercedes van der Waals-Wyatt. MAP of Peter Gittens signed on with the St. Maarten Christian Party (SMCP) of Wycliffe Smith. CPA of Jeffrey Richardson was with People’s Progressive Alliance of Gracita Arrindell. None of those four parties that ran in the last elections scored a seat in the 15-seat legislature.
