UPDATE: Vehicles collide on Belair Road

PHILIPSBURG--A bus and a pickup truck collided head-on on Belair Road near the entrance to Divi Little Bay Resort during the busy 3:15pm traffic flow Friday.

According to police, the bus was traveling toward Philipsburg while the pickup was coming from the opposite direction. The pickup veered to the left for some reason, causing the head-on collision.
The investigation also indicated that the bus was carrying 17 tourists who were passengers from Freedom of the Seas in port on Friday. On the arrival of the Police Traffic Department, the passengers had already left the scene. Eyewitnesses stated that these passengers had no visible injuries.
Both vehicles suffered severe damage. The driver of the bus had his foot caught under the dashboard and the driver of the pickup also was stuck in his vehicle. Firefighters came to the rescue and assisted both drivers.
The driver of the bus was released after treatment by emergency services, but the driver of the pickup suffered from a possible broken wrist and complained about pain in his hip, and was transported to the Emergency Room for immediate treatment.
Additional police officers arrived shortly after the accident and directed traffic.
