MARIGOT--The eleventh edition of the 5K La Sainte-Martinoise with its slogan “100% feminine” enjoyed a record participation of 324 runners and walkers since its creation in 2013. As is customary, everyone wears a pink T-shirt.
The attendance underlines the popularity of this event, whose aim is to bring women together around a sporting and festive event, and to encourage them to take up sport.
The race organised by Avenir Sportif Club was won by Agnès Puigcerver (Avenir Sportif Club) in 21:19 ahead of Murielle Paul Lancien (Avenir Sportif Club) and Nathalie Maniez (IGR).
For the walkers Anne Jacques (Dream of Trail) crossed the finish line first completing the course in 35:53 ahead of Lynn Taylor and Marlene Fleming.
The mother-daughter challenge was won for the fourth consecutive year by the Doranges team, ahead of Océane and Sonia Chilou and the pair Louise and Claire Creusot.
Third Vice-President of the Collectivité Dominique Louisy who is an avid participant said it was an occasion to celebrate women and champion women’s rights. Singer Tamilia Chance sang the St. Martin Song before the start.
The event ended with a Soca Fit session hosted by Learie and many participants won prizes in the raffle, including three return tickets to Guadeloupe offered by Air Caraïbes.
