Basketball Association hosts  Female Basketball Exhibition

Team St. Martin competed in the St. Maarten National Basketball Association’s Female Basketball Exhibition.

 

PHILIPSBURG-- The St. Maarten National Basketball Association (SXMNBA) hosted the Female Basketball Exhibition from November 29 to December 1. The showcase highlighted talent from St. Martin, Anguilla, St. Eustatius, and Suriname.

Teams competed in 5-on-5 and 3-on-3 games at the LB Scott Sports Auditorium and the Rupert Maynard Community Centre in St. Peters. The three-day exhibition celebrated teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship.

Action started Friday at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium as St. Martin defeated Anguilla 41-16 in the 5-on-5 opener. In the second game, St. Martin edged past Suriname 24-21.

On Saturday in the 3-on-3 Showdown at the Rupert Maynard Community Centre St. Martin T1 bested Indomie-Suriname 6-4. In the second game St. Martin T2 beat Anguilla T1 9-1.

Next up The Future-Suriname blasted Anguilla T2, 9-1 and St. Martin T1 squeezed past All Travel Services-Suriname 5-4.

In game 5 Indomie-Suriname bested St. Eustatius 5- 3.

The competition then moved onto the Knockout stage. St. Martin came out firing and downed St. Eustatius 15-3. The Future-Suriname lost to Indomie-Suriname 3-2 and Anguilla blew away

Indomie-Suriname 10-3. St. Martin then beat All Travel Services-Suriname 8-5 and in the fifth game beat Suriname14 -2.

The show ended as St. Eustatius shot past Anguilla 10-4.

Play resumed Sunday as Suriname overwhelmed Anguilla 65-26 and then bested

St. Martin 37-30.
