Bodybuilding world shocked by sudden death of Peter McCiver

PHILIPSBURG--The Caribbean bodybuilding community is reeling from the news that bodybuilder Peter McCiver passed away suddenly just nine days before he was due to compete in a show in Dubai on April 20, 2018. He was just 31 years old.

The St. Lucia-born Super Heavyweight died in his sleep according to the family and no foul play was suspected. His family have been to Dubai to bring back the body for burial in St. Lucia.
McCiver was engaged to be married on June 3, 2018. He had two daughters and a recent newborn baby. He previously relocated to Anguilla to compete under the Anguillian flag before moving to Dubai where he worked as a personal trainer and was preparing for his first show on April 20.
“His death has rocked and shocked the Caribbean bodybuilding community,” President of St. Maarten Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (SMBBFA) Cleo Carti said in a statement. “He was young and had great potential. He left us too soon.
“He competed in the Super Heavyweight category and was always friendly, confident and very competitive. He could certainly intimidate you if you let your guard down. His last post was three days before the competition, showing how great he looked. The SMBBFA sent its condolences to the family and friends of Peter McCiver who are left to mourn.”
