CAY HILL--Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic and Curaçao top the standing tables after two days of play in the Caribbean Football Union's Boys Under 15 Soccer Championship. Twelve countries are competing in three pools.
In pool one, playing their first round matches at the Raymond Guishard Technical Centre in Anguilla are Cayman Islands, St. Lucia, Anguilla and US Virgin Islands. Cayman won both Saturday and Sunday.
They first defeated St. Lucia 2-0 and on Sunday came back to best Virgin Islands 4-0. Second in the group based on goal difference is St. Lucia with three points. Sunday St. Lucia bested Anguilla 4-0. Anguilla also has three points after defeating Virgin Islands 3-1 Saturday.
Pool two and three compete at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex.
Dominican Republic has six points in pool 2 which in addition to Dominican Republic includes Grenada, St. Kitts, Nevis and Bonaire. Saturday Dominican Republic blanked Grenada 3-0 and Sunday clobbered St. Kitts 4-0. Grenada is second in the pool with three points.
They defeated Bonaire Sunday 1-0. Bonaire and St. Kitts each have one point as they drew 0-0 Saturday.
Pool three consists of Curaçao, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Maarten and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Curaçao tops the group with six points after beating Antigua 4-1 Saturday and St. Vincent 7-0 Sunday.
St. Vincent bested St. Maarten Saturday 2-0. St. Maarten thrilled the home crowd with a chance in the seventh minute, but it was not to be. St. Vincent took the lead in the 25th minute and scored again in the 33rd minute.
Sunday in the nightcap, Antigua earned three points beating St. Maarten 8-0.
Action continues on St. Maarten this morning at 9:30am as Grenada faces St. Kitts. At 3:00pm Bonaire meets Dominican Republic. At 5:00pm Antigua goes up against St. Vincent and in the 7:00pm showcase St. Maarten kicks off against Curaçao.
On Anguilla, at 3:00pm St. Lucia will face Virgin Islands and at 5:00pm Anguilla takes on Cayman.
The semi-finals are set for August 14 and the final August 16 on St. Maarten.
