Eight teams advance next round of U-15 tourney

CAY HILL--Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic and Curaçao finished the first round of the Caribbean Football Union’s Boys Under 15 Soccer Championship without a loss. They advance to the next round which will be played at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex Wednesday.
Cayman completed the group sweep for nine points beating Anguilla 8-0.

Twelve countries competed in the first round and were divided into three pools.
In pool one, playing their first round matches at the Raymond Guishard Technical Centre in Anguilla were Cayman Islands, St. Lucia, Anguilla and US Virgin Islands.
St. Lucia won the other match on Anguilla yesterday to finish in second place and advance with six points. St. Lucia defeated Virgin Islands 8-0.
Pool two and three compete at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex.
Dominican Republic finished on nine points in pool 2 beating Bonaire 2-0. Grenada finished second and advances with six points. They defeated St. Kitts 1-0, yesterday.
Pool three consists of Curaçao, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Maarten and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Curaçao topped the group with nine points after beating St. Maarten 4-0. Antigua finished second shutting out St. Vincent 2-0.
The top two third place teams also advance to the next round. Anguilla with three points moves on from pool 1 and St. Vincent from pool three, also with three points advances.
Action continues on St. Maarten August 12. At 9:00m Dominican Republics will face the best third place team. At 3:00pm St. Lucia goes against Grenada. At 5:00pm Cayman faces Antigua and at 7:00pm Curacao will kick off against the second best third place squad.
The semi-finals are set for August 14 and the final August 16 on St. Maarten.
