The St. Maarten Women’s Nation Football Team faced St. Marten women’s team Juventus FC in a friendly match Sunday afternoon. St. Maarten, pictured here, won 3-1.
PHILIPSBURG—Flames United top the St. Maarten Football Federation Senior competition standings with 13 points after the fifth week of play. Flames faced C & D Connection at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex Sunday. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.
Flames came close to scoring. A well stuck free kick from outside the box hit the the crossbar.
Second place is 758 Boyz also at 13 points. The most exciting game of the weekend was between 758 Boyz and FC Soualiga on Friday
758 Boyz took the lead in the first half but FC Soualiga came back to not only tie the game but take the lead in the second half, off a well finished header from Yannick Dinane. But with seemingly the last kick of the game 758 Boyz were able to rescue a point with a long distance free-kick going in deep into second half stoppage-time.
That match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Third are SCSA Eagles. Eagles played Hottspurs Saturday. Eagles won 9-2. Eagles have 12 points.
C & D are fourth on 10 points and Soualiga is fifth on Seven points while Hottspurs are sixth at 6 points.
Sitting in seventh is SXM Crew. Crew faced Belvedere FC and won 5-1.
United Superstars are eighth on three points. Superstars bested Reggae Lions 3-0. Belvedere is ninth on three points and in tenth place is Lions with no points.
Football, week 6, continues this weekend. Friday C & D meet SXM Crew Friday starting at 8:30pm. Saturday at 6:00pm Hottspurs take on Belvedere and at 8:30pm Reggae Lions take the pitch Eagles.
Sunday at 6:00pm Soualiga goes up again Superstars and at 8:30pm Flames meet 758.
Cost to enter is US $2. Fans and spectators should enter through the big side gate, only players and team officials will be allowed to enter through main entrance. All fans entering the venue should wear face mask and practice social distancing.
