Hot Times at MMC Summer Sizzler Meet

COLE BAY--Marine Management and Consulting sponsored this year's Summer Sizzler meet. The competition was attended by swimmers from four teams: Anguilla Aquastars, Dolphin Swim Team, Super Splash Swim Team, and host Carib Swim Team.

It was the last meet of the 2022-2023 season. Event winners include Matias Piazza (CST), Darina Smirnova (CST), Jolien Wind (CST), Simon Creusot (CST), Nicolas Piazza (CST), Nihal Chugani (CST), Daan Vinke (CST), Maik Croes (SSST), Denecia Prince (CST), Nikki Grandtner (CST), Declan Boyd (CST), Kjeld Van Der Meer (CST), Nathaniel Labady (SSST), Maeda McPhie (CST), Xam Hartgers (SSST), D'Anka Burgan (CST), Lois Geerdink (CST), Jaylen Martiens (CST), J'Aishaa Jeffers (DST), Jada Frederick (SSST), Teon Papaso (DST), Embriel Flanders (DST), Miguel Febres-Gonzalez (SSST), Caithlyn Challenger (CST), Jayden Helsdingen (SSST), Kimaia Stephen (CST), Blake Mullen (CST), Tavare Green (CST), Charlotte Challenger (CST), Samara Tjin-Asjoe (SSST), Evan Malisev (CST), Philip Chang Sing Pang (CST), Pelaiah Janssen (DST), Timothy Papaso (DST), Eden Andre (CST), Kayleigh Vanterpool (AA), Dyshaun Sanderson (DST), Dalia Romulus (CST), and Yoshka Martinez (CST). 14 new CST team records were reset, incuding two people who will be brand new to the big board. Declan Boyd broke a 2006 record in 9 year old boys 200 backstroke (3:28.34). Nicolas Piazza also earned his name on the board in the 13 year old boys 200 breaststroke (2:56.56). 21 year old Masters swimmer Jolien Wind broke 18/over records in 200 freestyle (2:28.32) and 200 IM (2:45.52). Most impressively was her 200 breaststroke (2:56.32) which was both an 18/over record, as well as a Senior record (fastest all time, no matter what age). 15 year old Matias Piazza had an incredible meet, setting eight new team records. These were 800 free (8:57.10), 50 back (29.44), and 200 IM (2:22.48), all of which were Senior records also.

He also set 15 year old boys records in 200 free (2:04.48), and 400 IM (5:03.93). Adding to the new records, a ton of new time standards were achieved as well. New 'B' times were set by Eden Andre (100 fly), Natalie Mullen (50 free, 50 back, 100 back, 100 breast), Denecia Prince (100 breast), Declan Boyd (200 free, 100 breast), Philip Chang Sing Pang (100 back, 100 breast), Simon Creusot (200 free, 400 free, 100 breast, 200 breast), and Kjeld Van Der Meer (200 free, 100 back). New 'BB' times were made by Eden Andre (50 back), Caithlyn Challenger (200 free), Denecia Prince (100 free), Darina Smirnova (100 free), Matias Piazza (200 back), Nicolas Piazza (100 free, 200 breast), Kjeld Van Der Meer (50 breast), and, in his last meet with CST before his move to The Netherlands, Daan Vinke (50 free, 200 free, 400 free). CST had a couple new 'A' time swimmers with Caithlyn Challenger (50 fly), and Darina Smirnova (50 breast). Finally Matias Piazza had a new 'AA" time in 200 free. This is CST last home meet of the season.

However, some of the swimmers will be traveling for meets this summer. Joey Schvartz in already in France for the French Junior Championship, Matias Piazza will be competing in Canada, and Saphir Thomas will be competing in Martinique.
