MARIGOT--On February 22 and 23, the 2nd Martinique International Aqua Walking Open will be welcoming more than 120 competitors from the Caribbean, as well as from the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts of France.
Je Longe la Côte aux Antilles (JLCA), the leading club in the West Indies and the only club on Saint-Martin, will be defending the island's colours with six competitors.
This second edition of the Open International d' Aqua Walking de Martinique will take place on the Pointe Marin beach in Sainte-Anne. The various Longe-Côte events will take place on Saturday, February 22, to qualify for the French Championships in June.
On Sunday, February 23, the organisers will be offering a trail-longe côte format. After a small participation in 2024 with two members of the Club, this year JLCA is lining up six competitors in the 50-metre solo paddle event: Dominique Balet, Cindy Kuhry, Christine and Yannik Le Bot, Nadine Y Mung, and Delphine Capron, who has held the Brevet Fédéral Longe-Côte since January.
Two mixed pairs, Y. Le Bot / N. Y Mung and D. Balet / D. Capron will also be taking part in the 400-metre endurance event and the 50-metre team relay. In the endurance event, Cindy Kuhry is entered in the 200 metres solo.
On Sunday, Yannik, Cindy, Christine and Dominique will be taking part in the individual trail-longe-côte event, a very physical event combining a 500 metre long-distance run and a 1080 metre run, to be completed four times.
This will be their second trip to a competition, thanks to the support of the Collectivité. JLCA intends to give real visibility to this sport which has around 50 members on the island.
