Last track meet serves as National Championship

CAY HILL—The last local Track and Field meet of the season will be held at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex Sunday, August 30. The meet will serve as the National Championship and as a preliminary qualifier for the Carifta Games that will be held Easter Weekend 2016 in Grenada.

Athletes will be able to compete in up to 17 disciplines. In the sprints there will be a 50m, 80m, 100m, 200m 400m and 800metres.

The 1,000m and 1,500metres will be the middle distance races. There will also be a 3,00m long distance course.

Throwers will compete in shot put and javelin. Jumpers will face off in the long, high and triple jumps.

Hurdlers will race over 60m, 100m or 400 metres.

The national championship is open all athletes and will be divided in age groups of under 10, under 13, under 15, under 18 and under 20. The Carifta qualifiers are divided into two groups, of Under 18 and Under 20.

The competition is slated to start at 1:00pm and finish by 5:00pm.
