   Phoenix, Progressive win Volleyball championships

ST. EUSTATIUS – Phoenix and Progressive won the St. Eustatius Volleyball Association Championships at the Earl N. Merkman Sports Auditorium on Thursday.


In the female division the Phoenix were leading the best of 5 series 2-0 against Intense Divas. It was a hard fought game that saw the Phoenix team pull away and win in four sets. With the win the Phoenix became the three-time champions.
Phoenix won SEVA in 2018 and the 2019 female division championship. The 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic. Phoenix player, Elshe Spanner was named the rookie of the year in the female division and Melissa Lopes was named the Most valuable player.
In the male division Progressive was also up on 2-0 against No Fear. Progressive won the game in four sets. The Progressive became the two time champions as they also won in 2019.
The male division Rookie Of The Year was Ulysses Lopes and Jahvon Hous was named the Most Valuable Player. Trophies were presented to the championship teams.
