The 2016 Statia Volleyball season kicked off Saturday

ST. EUSTATIUS-- No Limit won the season opener as St. Eustatius Volleyball Association served up their annual competition. No Limit defeated Pythonz in three sets 25-17, 25-19 and 26-24 Saturday.   


  In the men’s competition Progressive defeated the up and coming youth team GVP Bulldogs.  Progressive won in 4 sets, 25-20, 25-19, 21-25, and 25-17
  Present at the opening ceremony were island council members Reuben Merkman and Rechelline Leerdam as well as Commissioner of Sports Reginald Zaandam who delivered a motivational speech for the athletes.
  The Golden Rock song was sung by everyone present and prayer being offered by Councilman Merkman.
  All teams received balls donated by the Association as a merit for membership and Commissioner Zaandam served the first ball to declare the 2016 season open.
  Games will be played on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
