Candlelight vigil held for Mervin Cuvalay

 EUSTATIUS--A sizeable crowd turned out for the candlelight vigil for Mervin “Heavy” Cuvalay which was held at Happy City store on Wednesday night.

  Cuvalay passed away November 29. His funeral will take place at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Newton’s Pasture today, Friday, at 2:00pm.

  There were many speeches and songs performed at the emotional gathering as reflections were made about the deceased. “No matter what we do, or where we come from, at the close of the day we are all human beings,” one speaker said.

  Cuvalay was known for his carpentry work he had learned as part of the Social Activities Programme.

  Circumstances surrounding injuries the deceased suffered prior to his passing are still unaccounted for. No information pertaining to Cuvalay’s death has been forthcoming from the Police Department as yet.
